Took a trip out to the Barrier Reef today. We sailed about 40 miles off the coast of Cairns to a moored platform called Marine World at the outer edge of the Barrier Reef. It took about 90 minutes to reach Marine World. Once there, there was a choice of snorkelling , scuba diving and rides on a helicopter. I decided to do the snorkelling. The diving looked a bit too complicated . Did two guided snorkels with a marine biologist pointing out brightly coloured fish, corals and even a white tipped reef shark. The water was dead calm and crystal clear and about 26c
